During the entire year, an attractive and diverse cultural offer gives the visitor the possibility of carrying out many activities.

The Halls of the Cultural Centre and of National Heritage continually offer a great variety of exhibitions of great artistic and cultural interest. The Choir Students of the Monastery and of the Valle de los Caídos (Valley of the Fallen) and the Padre Soler Music Band surprise music-lovers with their performances.

Theatre Auditorium San Lorenzo de El Escorial. Building of modern construction that houses highly sophisticated equipment, placed at the disposal of the lovers of artistic musical, theatrical and dance productions.

Summer courses of the Madrid Complutense University. They combine rest and participation in subjects of interest and modernity (July and August).

Carlos III Royal Coliseum. Constructed in 1770 by assignment from Carlos III and reformed by Juan de Villanueva, it is the only one from the 18th century that is preserved. More information in its web page.

Christmas Nativity scene. Formed by natural-sized figures, it transforms the centre of the city with typical scenes that commemorate this celebration (December-January).

Holy Week. The processions that move down the city streets and revive this deeply rooted religious tradition have the leading role (March-April).

Patron Saint’s Day in honour of San Lorenzo. With its varied program of performances, it is a customary date for the summer visitors of the Madrid sierra (August).

Procession of the Virgen de Gracia. Declared Festival of National Tourist Interest. The Procession Entourage carries the Virgin to the Hermitage of the Herrería in an atmosphere of the purest tradition (September).
