Historial Artistic Ensemble

Declared Site of Cultural Interest in 1971, the Historical Artistic Ensemble of San Lorenzo de El Escorial shows, through its buildings’ characteristics, the features of San Lorenzo de El Escorial’s history.

Two fundamental periods stand out in its evolution that correspond with the moments of construction of the Monastery in the 16th century and the creation of the city in the 18th century. The most representative buildings of both periods are:
